Toon time fun

Saving the planet, saving the day, solving mysteries, troubling genius brothers, exploring deep oceans and the jungle, soaring the skies delivering packages, and dealing with the masters of the universe were some of the things that I have enjoyed growing up with. These cartoons had simple themes and loads of fun and entertainment. No challenges, no competitions, no transforming things or selves into wild beings and yes, no killing and abusing others. Cartoon channels have either taken on to educating children or inciting competition amongst them. Its not that competition is not good but too much of everything is bad. The new definition for fun seems to beat each other in collecting merchandises, winning competitions or simply knowing the names of all the characters that a super-natural creature can transform into after coming out of a ball. A two year old calls his mother by her name and makes passes on women. Another rides on a dragon and even transforms into one. He can also control aliens with his power. These battle driven shows do not have a comic element to it. They cannot offer the fun that a simple cat and mouse chase never fails to. May be the definition of fun has changed or has been changed by our marketing professionals. Their theory of influencing the child thereby influencing the parents and hence adding on to their sales has had an adverse effect on the innocent fun that a child derived by simply watching cartoons!

There is nothing called 'childhood' anymore. There is only competition and marks. How can you expect simple, fun cartoons when you have parents who push their children to do better and better even at the kindergarten level? How can you expect children to enjoy their childhood when you have parents who think that a character like Shin Chan (or whatever the spelling is)or Calvin is 'cute'? Personally, I would give a resounding slap to such a child (and also the person who created it).

I totally agree wid u parr.... Our times were different but fun. Then, fun was simply two characters hitting and chasing each other all day long. But at the end of it there was no hard feeling or guilt of having done wrong. No cartoon ever portrayed any destructive attitude. it was all about saving the planet or fighting evil. and also we never fought amongst ourselves because we couldnt collect any toys or merchandise.

Thats a rocking write up parnika... You make me yearn for childhood again.... i dont like Shin Chan though... he is too rude... I have actually seen children use foul language learning it from the cartoons....

cartoons were supposed to be for light entertainment but now it does not soothe and relax...

keep up the good work Parnika... Take the cause of kids and cartoons ahead....

Hello! Pranika...
This is really very true we are loosing communication from our nearest ppls... such as parents, brothers, sisters and friends and try to find a virtual friend.

This gives excitement but it may brings a lot of problems as... we may a miss a friend who actually no where and we lost those who are around us every time.

keep it going... :)
